Please join Sign 4 Divesting Massachusetts for our virtual monthly fireside chat Saturday, March, 19th, 2022 at 12:00 PM.
This Month We Are Going To Have Guest Speaker, Senator Pacheco (D) Of Massachusetts, Who Is Central To Massachusetts Climate Change Prevention Efforts.
SENATOR PACHECO REALLY UNDERSTANDS THE CRISES THE PLANET IS FACING!
Massachusetts Is A Coastal State!
Rising Ocean Levels Will Drastically Affect Us!
Senator Pacheco Knows This!
Senator Pacheco is the founding chair of the Standing Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change, the Council of State Governments Legislative Climate Alliance, and the Massachusetts Climate Alliance Caucus.
He is also the author of the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2008 - the Commonwealth’s first emission reduction law - and the current sponsor of a number of bills designed to combat climate change and secure a clean energy future.
One of those bills - S.722 - would explicitly authorize local retirement boards to divest from the fossil fuel companies currently undermining our efforts to prevent the worst effects of the global climate emergency.
Pacheco, the Dean of the Massachusetts Senate, is also advocating this session for the adoption of robust emission reduction policies across a variety of sectors including the expansion of offshore wind, solar, and energy storage; the decarbonization of homes and buildings; and the electrification of our state fleet and overall transportation system.
